The Weymouth Boat Train

The seaside town of Weymouth on the south coast of England once had an almost unique feature running along one its roads – a mainline railway track that would carry passenger and freight trains through the town centre from the railway station to the quayside.

The last trains ran in the 1990s but the track remained until 2020. These photographs were taken two or three years before it was lifted and had become little more than an often overlooked piece of industrial heritage.
