I cycle; I stop; I photograph. A New Year’s Day ride to the corner of a quiet churchyard.
Late one Saturday afternoon I took the half hour train ride out of London to the small town of Hertford for a walk along the River Lea.

Today I was cycling in the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire borders, and visited the church in Ashwell. Cycling through the Hertfordshire countryside on my ongoing project to uncover the corners of country churchyards, and I came upon this in Codicote. I loved the juxtaposition of the praying angel and the leaning shed. Curiously, the angel was all on their own, away from the rest of the gravestones.
The photographic impulse. I have been taking photographs for a long time. What drives me on? A meander through my mind to try and find the answer.
